Seeing the good, whether in a situation or in people, can be hard. We, as sinful humans automatically see bad - not because we want to see the bad side but because it is most noticeable and it distracts us from the good that God wants us to see. God loves us and created a wonderful world for us to live in, full of nothing but good; then when it fell, bad entered the world. The bad did not destroy the good; it just overshadowed it and hid it from view. As a result, we as fallen humans automatically began to see nothing but bad in a situation that was meant to be good. Even though we are now saved and new creations in God's eyes, we still tend to drift back into our old ways of looking at the bad and not the good. But there is no need to see only bad anymore. We are saved, which means we're destined to leave this world behind and go to a new heaven and new earth with no sin and no bad side. So why dwell on the bad in a situation or a person when we know that it is only temporary and will so be gone forever?
Pray -
Dear Lord, please give us the faith to lean into you when we are in a bad situation; it is not permanent and will pass away with this world. Give us comfort and let us know that you are with us always, through good times and bad, holding us up with your righteous right hand, for now and always. To you be the glory.Amen.
